Grateful* - Blogtoberfest: cinq jours

I am in the second week of holidays. Last week we went away and this week tinniegirl went back to work while I have another week off. It is a double edged sword for sure because at the moment I am working in a school on a casual basis and during school holidays, there is no work for me. I have attempted to get some other work, but so far, no good.

The challenge for me then is to relax and enjoy myself with the knowledge that I have no money coming in for these 2 weeks of lazing around, which is exactly what I have been doing.

I am using this gift of time to do some thinking about my future and I have been exploring some different ideas - this is what being out of work can lend itself to I've found.  have realised that I have been gifted with many things this year, even though it has been an incredibly difficult time! With a bit of distance it is always easier!

There are so many things I am grateful for
  • My beautiful partner and her never ending support and love for me
  • losing my job (in hindsight!)
  • rediscovering my passion as far as work goes
  • time
  • the special people in  my life
among others.

I am truly blessed to be able to enjoy the early spring weather we are having and so I practice gratitude.

(I LOVE this song and couldn't choose a set of lyrics so I have included all of them!)
I've got a roof over my head
I've got a warm place to sleep
Some nights I lie awake counting gifts
Instead of counting sheep

I've got a heart that can hold love
I've got a mind that can think
There may be times when I lose the light
And let my spirits sink
But I can't stay depressed
When I remember how I'm blessed

Grateful, grateful
Truly grateful I am
Grateful, grateful
Truly blessed
And duly grateful

In a city of strangers
I've got a family of friends
No matter what rocks and brambles fill the way
I know that they will stay in the end

I feel a hand holding my hand
It's not a hand you can see
But on the road to the promised land
This hand will shepherd me
Through delight and despair
Holding tight and always there

Grateful, grateful
Truly grateful I am
Grateful, grateful
Truly blessed
And duly grateful

It's not that I don't want a lot
Or hope for more, or dream of more
But giving thanks for what I've got
Makes me so much happier than keeping score

In a world that can bring pain
I will still take each chance
For I believe that whatever the terrain
Our feet can learn to dance
Whatever stone life may sling
We can moan or we can sing

Grateful, grateful
Truly grateful I am
Grateful, grateful
Truly blessed
And duly grateful

  1. It's a good list of things Ms L. I hope the list keeps getting bigger and bigger as the year goes on.

  2. I finally got over here, and yes, the Richard Bach quote matches perfectly. So glad you can see the gift and the positives. And more time for blotoberfest :)
